SCORE Bucks County Honors Chapter Co-Founder Wendelin “Bim” Stahl

On Friday, January 10, 2020, the executive committee of the Bucks County Chapter of SCORE gathered at Juniper Village at Bucks County in Bensalem to honor the co-founder of the chapter, Wendelin “Bim” Stahl.

Wendelin "Bim" Stahl owned an appliance store in Fairless Hills. His original store also sold records, but as that business diminished, he stuck with appliances (don't ask me how records and refrigerators go together). While Bim owned his store, he heard about SCORE, through the Small Business Administration (SBA). He and another gentleman formed the SCORE original chapter in Bucks County. Bim couldn't join in 1988 as he wasn't retired, and at that time SCORE permitted only retirees as volunteers. Bim officially joined SCORE in 1989 after he sold his store.

At the event, Bim reminisced about his early life when he served in the Navy air corp in WW2, stationed in Miami, Florida.  Bim humorously reported that he single-handily kept Florida safe from invasion.  He flew on planes delivering supplies to Brazil.  When asked about his favorite or a memorable SCORE client, Bim gently reminded us that these things are confidential.

Bim was also a past president of the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce. LBCCC also sent two representatives to the event and also presented Bim with a commemorative award.

Bim was very moved and honored by the experience. It was a very worthwhile and heartwarming session.

Bucks County SCORE would like to thank Juniper Village at Bucks County for hosting the event!
